Our Annual Meeting at Ascutney Mountain Resort brought together partners, donors, supporters, board members, and staff for an evening rooted in community, gratitude, and shared purpose. This year’s theme centered on collaboration and the real impact we can make when we work together to support people across southeastern Vermont.
It was a chance to reflect on all we’ve accomplished as a region—and to celebrate the people and organizations who help make that progress possible.
Celebrating Community Partnership
At the heart of the event was a simple idea: community moves us forward. We honored five incredible partners whose work strengthens safety nets, expands opportunity, and brings more stability and support to the people we serve.

Springfield Supported Housing Program received the James Bartley Community Partner Award for their tireless efforts addressing housing insecurity and homelessness across Windsor County. Their outreach, advocacy, and hands-on support help people secure and maintain safe, stable housing—often during some of the hardest moments of their lives.
Hypertherm received the Ripple Impact Award for their inclusive employment partnership with HCRS, creating pathways for people with developmental disabilities to thrive in meaningful work.
Southeastern Vermont Community Action (SEVCA) earned the Heart of the Community Award for their leadership in housing, food security, and essential services—meeting basic needs in deeply compassionate and community-focused ways.
Stratton Mountain received the Cornerstone Award for their long-standing support of Kindle Farm School, providing students with opportunities to build confidence, connection, and joy through time spent on the mountain.
New Chapter, Inc. was honored with the Circle of Support Award for their generosity and continued support of Kindle Farm School’s programs, helping youth access hands-on, empowering learning experiences.
“These organizations reflect what’s possible when compassion, collaboration, and community come together,” said George Karabakakis, Ph.D., HCRS CEO. “Their partnership helps us create stability, opportunity, and hope for the people we serve.”
Looking Back on a Year of Impact
The evening also highlighted our 2025 Annual Report: Rooted in Our Mission, Growing with Heart, showcasing a year filled with meaningful progress. HCRS served more than 4,000 clients, delivered over 625,536 hours of direct care, sustained strong client satisfaction, and continued expanding access to services across 47 towns.
From leading Vermont’s statewide Mobile Crisis program to strengthening partnerships that bridge health and human services, the work of HCRS continues to grow with heart—grounded in community and driven by connection.
