Dear HCRS Community,

We want to keep you informed about recent federal policy updates that have been in the news.

Freeze of Federal Grant Funding: Earlier this week, an order was issued to pause federal grants and loans, raising concerns across many sectors, including mental health and human services. We have been actively monitoring the situation, and we’re pleased to share that as of yesterday, this funding freeze has been rescinded.

Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schools: This executive order directs the U.S. Department of Education to take steps to eliminate what it defines as “political indoctrination” in K-12 schools. This includes restricting discussions on certain topics including race, gender identity, and diversity-related curricula. At this time, it is unclear how this order will be implemented at the state and local levels. We are actively seeking clarity on how these changes might affect the families and youth we serve.

Protecting the US from Foreign Terrorists & Other Threats: This order from January 20, relates to immigration policies and national security measures. We are following developments closely and seeking guidance as to how this may impact our services.

We know that these rapid policy changes can create confusion and concern, and we want to reassure you that HCRS remains fully operational, and our commitment to serving you is unwavering. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your provider or contact us directly.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey—we’re here for you.

With gratitude,

George Karabakakis, Ph.D.

HCRS CEO
