We’re thrilled to shine a spotlight this month on David Mason, one of our talented Direct Support Professionals (DSP) who joined our Springfield team earlier this year. With over 20 years of experience in various roles, David brings a refreshing perspective on what it means to work in a job that truly feels like a calling. Here’s a glimpse into what makes David an invaluable member of our HCRS team.

A Daily Adventure with Purpose

For David, every day at HCRS feels like a new adventure. “I get to meet amazing clients and really get to know them,” he shares, describing the uniqueness of his role. Unlike his previous job in a hot, repetitive environment that felt like just a paycheck, he says he now enjoys work that feels meaningful and genuinely rewarding. “Each day is unique and exciting—I never imagined something so fulfilling could be part of a job!”

A Supportive Environment That Feels Like Home

One of David’s standout moments came during his early days at HCRS when he needed to take sick time. Unsure how his new team would react, he was met with open arms and understanding. “My supervisor and team lead were incredibly supportive. They reassured me that taking care of myself was a priority,” he recalls. “HCRS provides sick time for exactly this reason, and it made me feel cared for and valued.” David knows that HCRS is not just about work; it’s a place that prioritizes the well-being of its people.

Relationships That Make a Difference

David finds motivation in the connections he builds with clients, the mutual positivity he shares with them, and the chance to make someone’s day a bit brighter. These experiences keep him energized and engaged. “Even when a client brightens my day—it’s the kind of rewarding experience I look forward to every day,” he says.

Growth Beyond the Job

Since joining HCRS, David has grown not only professionally but also personally. Now, he finds himself more attuned to the people around him, carrying a spirit of compassion and support beyond work hours. “When I’m out with my family and see someone who needs support, I feel compelled to help,” he says, describing his newfound sense of being part of something larger than himself.

A Place of True Belonging

Despite his relatively short time at HCRS, David feels a strong sense of team and belonging that surpasses anything he’s experienced in his two-decade career. “My supervisor is incredibly approachable, and support is always offered in a person-centered, respectful way. It’s never about calling someone out; it’s about uplifting one another.” In a few short months, David has found a work home that embodies the values of respect, care, and community.

Life Beyond Work

When he’s not enriching lives at HCRS, David’s passions extend to strumming his guitar or losing himself in the vibrant ecosystem of his 90-gallon reef tank. “It’s like having a piece of the ocean right at home!” he shares. Whether he’s with his family, making music, or tending to his mini-ocean, David finds joy in the little things—making him an incredible person on and off the clock.

We’re lucky to have David as part of our HCRS team, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things he continues to accomplish with us!
